Rabbit Found In Poor Condition In Ayrshire Woodland

The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a rabbit was found in woodland in Ayrshire.

The Scottish SPCA were alerted at the weekend when the rabbit was discovered in Auchinleck.

The rabbit is now in the care of our Ayrshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre, where staff have named her Honey Bunny.

Centre manager Marion Hainey said, "The man who found Honey Bunny said he spotted an empty pet carrier in the same area a couple of weeks ago which suggests she may have been abandoned and had been living rough.

"Her ears were thick and crusty and full of wax. This was probably a result of ear mites being left untreated and Honey Bunny was in a lot of discomfort.

"She is also a little thin and her nails are overgrown. She is a friendly girl and we decided to call her Honey Bunny as she was such a sweetheart while she was having her ears cleaned.

"If anyone has any information or would like to offer Honey Bunny a new home we would ask them to contact us on 03000 999 999."
