Blue Cross "Steps for Pets" - Every Little Step Helps Pets

Blue Cross is appealing to the nation’s pet lovers to lace up their boots, put on their dancing shoes, trainers or wellies to join in their exciting new Steps for Pets fundraising event this October and help create a happier future for pets in need.

The leading pet charity is asking people up and down the country to walk, run, dance, hop, skip or even climb to help reach a total of 10 million steps and raise money for the thousands of sick and homeless pets it cares for in its rehoming centres and animal hospitals.

Tracey Chittock, Blue Cross Community Fundraising and Events Manager, said: “The great thing about Steps for Pets is that absolutely anyone can take part and there are so many ways you can do your steps. You can count your steps while you’re at work, school, out walking the dog or running around after your kids all day. Or if you feel like a little bit more of a challenge you could sign up for a 5k run - it couldn’t be easier.”

Tracey continued: “All you need to do is commit to taking a certain number of steps, which you can count with your free ‘petometer’ and pledge to raise money for pets. Every step you take will help us to help more pets, so sign up today, on your own, with friends or even your Zumba class!”

Every step will raise money to help pets like kitten Zippy, whose mum was a stray who had given birth to three kittens in a garden. Luckily, they were all brought to Blue Cross, where they received the care they needed and eventually all found happy new homes.

Steps for Pets will take place from 1-31 October 2015. To sign up and receive your free fundraising pack, including your ‘petometer’ and some fundraising ideas, visit www.bluecross.org.uk/stepsforpets or call 0300 777 1757.
