Dog Tied To Railing In Edinburgh

The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a dog was found tied to a railing in Edinburgh.

The Scottish SPCA were alerted after the Staffordshire bull terrier cross was found at Prince Regent Street at around 6.30am on Wednesday (24 June).

The dog is now in the care of the Scottish SPCA's Edinburgh and Lothians Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Balerno.

Inspector Jenni Surgeon said, "The dog has a microchip and is registered with the name Dexter. We also know he is three years old.

"Unfortunately the contact number registered to the chip is for his previous owner, who rehomed him in 2013.

"They are working with us to help us get in touch with the person who took Dexter on. "In the meantime we're asking anyone who recognises him to contact us.

"It may be that Dexter has gone missing from home and a member of the public tied him to the railing to keep him from wandering onto the road. However, we also have to consider the possibility he may have been abandoned.

"Dexter is now safe in our care and if we aren't able to return him home we will find him a loving new owner."

Anyone with information is being urged to contact our animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
